Caring For Senior Pets
We all wish our pets could live forever, which is why everyone at Fallston Veterinary Clinic works hard to monitor health conditions of our senior patients. We aim to provide high quality treatment options so your pet can live a high-quality life throughout their senior years.
Regular check-ups are important for all pets, but especially aging ones. The immune system gets weaker as pets age, which means they are more susceptible to disease. Our veterinarians want to see senior pets twice a year for bloodwork, urinalysis, and diagnostic imaging to catch diseases early. Animals tend to age much quicker than humans, so a lot can change in between six-month check-ups.

Bloodwork
Bloodwork is an important piece when monitoring health for senior pets. Bloodwork allows our veterinarians to identify common diseases, like anemia, diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease, and more.
Urinalysis
Urinalysis determines renal function is a great tool at determining overall health of your pet. It can identify diseases like diabetes, urinary tract infections, liver disease, and kidney disease, as well as hydration levels.
Diagnostic Imaging
Diagnostic imaging allows our veterinarians to get a closer look at what is happening on the inside through x-rays and ultrasonography. These scans help to monitor internal organs and bones, identify issues, and create a treatment plan for any concerns. These images are especially important for senior animals, as more problems typically arise in older age.
